TellCo Europe is a global provider of LED and solar solutions, that are beneficial to the environment and represent a means to save the planet, one luminary at a time.

As part of projects in developing countries, we offer AT NO COST, a social plan to enhance the quality of life of communities worldwide.

Overview

TellCo Europe will use part of the proceeds from certain projects to sponsor social projects in selected small communities, that struggle due to the lack of resources and electricity. Our contribution may include installing solar LED luminaires, as well as sponsoring social, health, and educational initiatives, that will benefit children and the community.

Lack of access to electricity is one of the biggest issues facing the world’s population; it has been estimated that 1.6 billion inhabitants live globally in the dark. The vast majority live in rural areas; the remote locations and the density of the population do not make it cost-effective to send the transmission lines to these communities. To meet their lighting needs they rely on candles, kerosene lanterns, and firewood, expensive alternatives, that cause indoor pollution, harm the environment, and cause chronic lung problems. Scientific research has demonstrated that in the long-run, solar energy is the most practical and economical way of bringing power to poor and remote communities.

Small-scale, distributed solar home systems, and community luminaires provide an effective and affordable way to bring light to people without electricity. A basic system consists of a small solar panel, a battery, a charge controller, LED luminaries, and a universal outlet for charging cell-phones or other small appliances. TellCo Europe will design and donate these solar systems to be used from a highly visible location in the remote communities.

The proposed organizational structure will be community-centered. The components of the system will be assembled with the authorization of the government at all levels, and with the support of the community to ensure integration early in the process. This integrated approach will minimize costs, build local capacity, and provide the opportunity to train community stakeholders to properly operate and maintain their system. Early owners who become knowledgeable may then serve as advocates and technical support for other users in the community. TellCo Europe Social Plan contributes to social innovation!

Target Market

TellCo Europe has identified a target market for our Social Plan and the systems we will donate. Our target market for these systems includes individuals and communities, who are not connected to the grid and do not count on a source of electricity. We will customize the solar and LED solutions depending on the community and other socio-economic factors. However, in its most basic form, our solution will consist of a small solar photovoltaic panel, a charge controller to regulate the current and voltage, a storage battery, and the load, which consists of everything in a typical house demanding electricity, whether they have it or not lights, television, a cell phone charger, and appliances.

When distributing these systems, it is important to keep the needs of the customer in mind. Not all energy needs are the same, even in a community without electricity, TellCo Europe will be open and available to customize the solutions based on the target market.

Social Financial Plan

TellCo Europe technical staff will work together with the local partner to define the objective, seek input from local authorities, and identify the underserved communities, that will be impacted by our Social Plan. Upon signing the contract with the local authorities, TellCo Europe will disclose the amount allocated for the Social Plan and we expect this project to be an ongoing exercise for the next years. We have allocated yearly resources for the initial design and implementation of social projects in close coordination with our local partner and the authorities. TellCo Europe will ensure users and communities will not be directly or indirectly charged for the donations we will provide.
